well I think the stuff with the IP-address might be the only problem. But I mean this will always be present. Because if it's not done with the avatar a user could simply use an image in his signature. This appears on his posts just like an avatar would. Well therefore I think it's no problems to allow avatars isn't it?
The only thing we could think about is maybe adding an option to hide all images not directly from www.bright-shadows.net in the forums. For the paranoid users

I wouldn't mind having a certain picture of mine as an avatar.
